Following on from a number of queries from our Members, I wanted to give a quick update on the status of the Club. I know there are more pressing things to worry about in these troubling times but I am also conscious that you haven’t heard from myself or the Committee for a while.

Firstly I hope that everybody is staying safe and healthy. These are extraordinary times and I know that a lot of people are experiencing real difficulties right now, whether through ill health or in other ways. If you or anybody connected to the Club that you’re aware of is in need of support, please contact the club and we will do our best to try and arrange help.

In terms of the status of the Club itself, the good news is that financially, we are on a sound footing.

We have successfully applied for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. This involves the Government covering 80% of our contracted staff’s wages whilst they are furloughed

We have also successfully applied for the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund for a cash grant to cover our expenses during the period that we’re closed.

Finally, we have confirmed that our business rates for the next 12 months have been suspended.

Obviously our bar income has fallen to zero as a result of being closed. However, we believe that the Club is now able to withstand the economic pressures of the next few weeks.

The result is that the Langham Club will be there for our Members when we are allowed to re-open, so please take care of yourselves and hopefully we can celebrate seeing one another again before too long.
